It's that time again for summer break, and I couldn't be happier :) I just wanted to give some updates on the FRC, for the summer months. Our center will be closed June 10 - July 27.

There will NOT be any Parenting Classes for the month of July. Classes will start back in August. The dates for August are as follows: August 9, 10, 11 from 9 - 10:30 at the Board of Education. If your court ordered to take the classes, then you will need to attend ALL class dates. At the completion of course you will receive a class certificate, and class hours.

Monroe County Schools sends a BIG THANKS to Tellico Village Computer Users Club!!!!

I would like to take an opportunity to say a BIG thanks to the wonderful people of the Tellico Village Computer Users Club!!!! This wonderful organization has been the reason over 30 Monroe County School students have received a computer in their home.

This program is called the Technology Access Program and mostly referred to as TAP. TAP is a community outreach initiative of the Tellico Village Computer Users Club. This club is getting ready to give away their 1000 computer!!!! WOW!!!! This is such a great organization, that I can't say enough good things about!!! If you would like to know how you can qualify for this program, then call the Family Resource Center 442-6109.

Here is a list of activities for the month of April. I know that your kids are probably pretty excited, since we are approaching spring break next week. After that it will only be another 6 weeks, and out for the summer!!! Have a wonderful break!!! 2011 Kindergarten Registration

I want to thank everyone that helped, with Monroe County Schools 2011 Kindergarten Registration. We had over 420 students enroll for our Pre- K and Kindergarten classes. Parents we look forward to getting to know your child better, and I'm certain they will be an excellent addition to our schools!!!

If you weren't able to register, then there are NO worries!!! Please just contact the county school your child will be attending, so they can expect their arrival. I've also enclosed some pictures on this post of Monroe County's newest school additions.

This month is an exciting month for the Family Resource Center, and that's due to Kindergarten Registration. If your child will be enrolling in a Monroe County school for the 2011-2012 school year, then I want to take this time to welcome you. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new kindergarten students and hope that you share the same excitement. It's our goal for your child to have educational excellence and a joyous learning experience. Children who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2011 will be registering for kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year. However, children are not required to start kindergarten in Tennessee until they have reached age 6.

Parents who will be enrolling their child in kindergarten for the upcoming school year will need to bring their child to the school they will be attending on the dates listed below. If for some reason it is impossible to register at a particular school, parents should take their child to another school to registration and arrangements will be made to transfer those records to the appropriate school. If you are unable to attend any of these registrations, then please call the principal of the school your child will be attending and submit your child's name for attendance in the fall.

Here is a list of the following things that you will need to bring with you to registration: A certified birth certificate and a social security card are needed for school entrance and should be present at the time of registration. A Tennessee Certificate of birth can be obtained at the Monroe County Health Department Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Before your child may start school in the fall, a school physical and a Tennessee Certificate of Immunizations will be required. Check with your Health Care Provider for immunization requirements.

Monday's Muffins with Mom

I'm so excited to announce that FUN was had by all ,that attened the first Monday's Muffins with Mom event. The event was held on September 14, 09. The Children loved the books we read, and answered questions after. I look forward to our next Muffins with Mom storytime, and that will be October 12 from 9:00 - 10:00. Back 2 School Supplies with WYETH!!!

We would like to say a BIG thaks to Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Vonore, Tn!!!!! Wyeth donated over 50 back packs ,full of school supplies to Children in need. They also donated several other items on teacher's wish lists, for each Monroe County School grade k-8th. We are so greatful that Wyeth does this for our school children every year. Words can't express our thankfulness.

July's Back 2 School Health Fest a SUCCESS!

On July 25, 09 Monroe County Schools, Chota, and Volunteer State Health Plan held Monroe Counties 1st ever Back 2 School Health Fest. It was a HUGE success! We had over 2,000 attend this event. Kids were given Free backpacks with school supplies, Free Haircut Vouchers to use at ETSC in Sweetwater, Dental Assements from Monroe County Dental Clinic, Free giveaways from Flav O Rich, and many more from the other participating booths. I would like to take this time to thank everyone who made this event such a success. A special thanks goes out to Rairty Bay Women's Group, ETSC, Smiley Chiropractic, The City of Madisonville, Monroe County Sheriffs Dept., Monroe County Health Dept., Monroe County Dental Clinic, and Monroe County School Nutrition Dept. Well there isn't a whole lot going on in the schools since it's summer break. I hope everyone has had a great start to the summer! Enjoy it while you can, because the school year will start before we know it. Here is a list of things going on for the month of June. Remember if your interested in enrolling in a Monroe County School, then stop by Central Office 205 Oak Grove Road Madisonville, TN, and they can give you more information. Also, DON'T forget to save the date of July 25, for the Back 2 School Bash. It will be a lot of fun, that you won't want to miss out on. Have a great break!

Well the 2008-2009 school year is almost at a end. I'm sure the kids are counting down the days by now. I wanted to give a update on the month of May.

Kindergarten Registration was a Success!

Another Kindergarten Registration has come and gone. We will have close to 400 new students in our schools next school year. I would like to take the time to thank these following agencies: Monroe County Dental Clinic, Flav-O-Rich, Volunteer Federal Bank, Advocate and Democrat, Character Education Class, and School Staff.
